About Chesterton Consultancy

Graham Bolton FCMA, CGMA qualified as an Associate member of CIMA in 1984 after working for large organisations including Unilever, where he initially trained as a management accountant, British Oxygen Company and Memorex International.

After working for a number of smaller companies he identified a need for highly experienced, board level financial input in the small to medium sized business, albeit on a part time and often 'turn-on, turn-off' basis. Following this belief, he left full time employment in 1984 and became a self employed Practicing Management Accountant. In March 1992, he became a Fellow of the Institute.

Since that date he has held a number of Financial Director positions including Financial Director for a major Far Eastern importer of gift-ware and household goods (t/o £15m) and Financial Director to a company that designed and installed Cable TV fibre-optic networks in both the UK and Southern Ireland (t/o £15m).

In addition to these key senior roles, Graham has acted and continues to act in a  quasi-FD role for a number of clients that although small (t/o £0.5m - £2.5m), have a requirement for board level financial input and guidance on an on-going basis.  Typical examples of these would be two charities in the health care sector, a Swedish based international company providing temperature controlled logistics and a number of hearing healthcare professional practices.

During the past 28 years Graham's client involvement has ranged from 'practice' based accounting and tax advice to short term consultancy contracts ranging from as little as 3 months to an 8 year post as Financial Director.

More recently, Graham has trained in psychology and now holds a Masters degree that enables him to provide a mentoring approach, where required to owner managed businesses so helping them reach their full business potential.

Graham says: during my career I have been fortunate enough to work in a large array of industry sectors and organisation sizes and encountered many different types of challenges facing business.  I believe that this broad base of experience stands me in good stead to assist clients through Chesterton Consultancy Ltd, whatever their needs.
